NAPABA-MN was organized by 4 Asian American lawyers back in 1989. Currently, there are over 190 members. Our members include judges, attorneys in private and public sectors, as well as businessmen and women.
NAPABA-MN is an affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). NAPABA is the only national association of Asian American and Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students. NAPABA was founded in 1988. NAPABA is a powerful advocate for the APA community across the nation. Over 40,000 attorneys comprise of NAPABA, whose practice range from solo practices to large firms, corporations, legal service organizations, non-profit organizations, law schools, and government agencies. NAPABA is dedicated in advancing civil rights reform, combating hate crimes, and increasing the diversity of the Federal and State judiciaries.
NAPABA is recognized as a very important organization. In fact, our past keynote speakers at the national conference include Senators Barack Obama and Arlen Specter, then-Vice President Al Gore, and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
NAPABA-MN is committed to bringing NAPABA's mission and goals to Minnesota. In order to advance our mutual goals, we monitor legislative developments and judicial appointments in Minnesota. NAPABA-MN supports and promotes political leadership and professional development of our members. NAPABA-MN is a strong advocate for equal opportunity in education and in the workplace. Our members continue to work towards elimination of bias and violence against Asian Pacific Americans.
Recently, we have been asked to advocate for and monitor various legal matters in Wisconsin. We have reached out to the Asian American attorneys in Wisconsin and look forward to working with them.
